“2016澳門光影節 ─ 光之秘寶”將於12月4至31日晚上7時至10時上演，路線覆蓋南灣湖水上活動中心、南灣湖景大馬路、南灣‧雅文湖畔、聖老楞佐教堂、鄭家大屋、亞婆井前地、港務局大樓和媽閣廟前地8個地點。故事以尋找“光之秘寶”為主題，邀請市民和旅客擔綱“勇士”，一起踏上冒險旅程，尋找媽祖遺失的7顆蘊含“希望”、“堅毅”、“健康”、“幸福”、“豐收”、“勇敢”和“堅貞”的能量寶石，喚醒沉睡中的海洋寶藏，前往前所未有的虛擬現實之旅，適合一家大小參與。今年澳門光影節的製作團隊主要由澳門本地團隊夥拍香港成員組成，整個製作引入創新光影技術，不局限於投影在建築物上，其中，在南灣湖水上活動中心的光雕表演將投影於水幕上。此外，今年亦增加了互動元素及光影音樂表演，以提高市民和旅客的參與度。
